"Zuckerberg's Metaverse Project is the expansion of inclusive capitalism into digital world." This opinion was voiced by Yaroslav Bogdanov, Chairman of the Board of the Fund for Protection of Investors' Rights in Foreign States.
The metaverse is far from new. The term itself was first voiced back in 1992 in book "Snow Crash" written by a science fiction writer Neil Stephenson. Nowadays, the idea of combining real and digital worlds has been taken up by a number of leading IT companies. Thus, Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Satya Nadella (Microsoft), Tim Sweeney (Epic Games) and others have joined the process of creating their own metaverse.
Facebook announced its intention to invest 50 million US dollars in a project to create a metaverse. According to the company’s representatives, "some products can be implemented within 10 to 15 years." At the same time, not only employees of Facebook, but also the US government, scientists and industrialists. Separately Zuckerberg mentions, that his metaverse will be "inclusive" and that human rights specialists will be involved in the development to provide some guarantees.
Yaroslav Bogdanov, Chairman of the Board of the Fund for Protection of Investors' Rights in Foreign States, commented on Facebook’s plans to create a metaverse:
— The ambitious statements of the founder of Facebook, in principle, do not contain anything special. In addition, reality and ecosystems are created by dozens of companies, Mark Zuckerberg himself will rely not only on his own developments, but also acquire others. At the same time, as it can be seen from the announcements of the project, the basic principles of the Global Network, first of all — the right to autonomy and open source — in the metaverse will be violated, and the fact that this project is being launched as part of the global program of "rebooting the world elite" does not even need to be reminded, the participants of the reboot themselves do not hide it. The correct answer to inclusive capitalists would be a fast introduction of blockchain.
